Mixtape Fanclub è un sito fondato sulla passione per i mixtape.
Le musicassette vergini, confezionate a mano, dove si registrava la musica che ci piaceva.
Si può dire che i mixtape siano stati la più popolare delle forme d’arte.
Compilati faticosamente, buttati giù in fretta e furia prima di una partenza, disegnati con cura o scarabocchiati, regalati o gelosamente custoditi. Cancellati o ricancellati.
Compagni inseparabili dei nostri Walkman. Appoggiati sul cruscotto della macchina, per rendere i viaggi meno noiosi. Li ascoltavamo a palla dallo stereo o dai boombox.
Li regalavamo agli amici: erano scambi di sincere competenze o di stupendi (e a volte indegni) egocentrismi. Li facevamo in automatico, quando c’innamoravamo.
Ce ne sono di due tipi: le registrazioni degli album (di solito, quando i dischi, non hanno cominciato a durare regolarmente più di un’ora, ci stavano su una cassetta C90); le classiche compilation.
Noi li ripubblichiamo oggi, adattandoli ai nuovi formati dell’ascolto musicale e del web publishing. Con il vostro contributo i “nuovi” mixtape faranno una specie di “salto” dal materiale al digitale.
Saranno un concentrato navigabile e social fatto d’immagini, racconti e ascolti in streaming.
Il nostro obiettivo è donare una seconda vita alle cassette registrate nelle proprie camerette e uno spazio in divenire all’arte e alla filosofia dell’hometaping.
Una cosa importante. C’è spazio per tutti i generi e tutti i gusti.
Accettiamo e pubblichiamo di tutto, basta solo che sia sufficientemente originale e fatto da voi.

Mixtape Fanclub is founded upon and fueled by a passion for mixtapes.
Those virgin cassettes, designing the insert by hand, recording the music we loved.
It can be argued that, back in the day, they were the most popular form of popular art.
Whether meticulously composed or hastily thrown together before a road trip, carefully designed or scribbled, given as gifts or kept jealously for ourselves, erased and taped over or preserved forever.
Inseparable companions of our Walkmen. Piled on the dashboard to make the trip less boring. Always at maximum volume, from headphones, boom boxes, stereos.
We gave them to friends, whether as sincere gestures of sharing musical tastes, or, hopefully less often, as colossally vain impositions of our own. And of course we made them automatically whenever we fell in love.
There are two types: full albums (before they started to regularly exceed an hour in length, you could fit two on a C90 cassette), and the classic compilation.
We here at Mixtape Fanclub republish both types, adapting them to the new formats of musical reproduction and web publishing. With your contribution, we aim keep our beloved mixtapes alive by making the leap from the physical to the digital.
They will be a navigable compendium of images, texts and streaming music, fully compatible with the main social media.
Our goal is to give a second life to the cassettes we assiduously recorded in our bedrooms, and to secure a future for the art and philosophy of hometaping.
Oh, one more thing. There’s room for all genres and all musical tastes.
We accept and publish everything, as long as it’s sufficiently original and, of course, home-made.
